What happens to NPI reports after they are submitted? If your company submitted a report to the NPI on 31 March 2010, what happens to the report and when does it become available to the public? On 31 March each year, updated pollution information become available to the public via the NPI website. For companies reporting on the 31 March 2010 the information submitted will therefore become available to the public on 31 March 2011. The process involves relevant State and Commonwealth government agencies reviewing the reports and seeking feedback from reporters on issues that are inconsistent or otherwise require clarification. Questions for industry from State government agencies are most likely to come during the 60 days after the report has been submitted. After the reports are passed to the Commonwealth Government (usually at the end of November), questions for industry reporters about their reports could come from either the State or Commonwealth Government. You can read more about the NPI reporting process in The NPI Guide Version 5.1 released in February 2010. Please contact peter@NPIplus.com.au if you have any questions about how NPI+ can help you meet the requirements of the NPI for the 2009 or 2010 reporting period. Or you can contact the relevant government agency in your state as shown here on the NPI government website. News item added 5 April 2010, by Peter Eriksen Go to News archive (old News items)
